NETO race 5 completed July 2 at Island Dragway

NETO race 5 was completed Sunday July 2 at Island Dragway  in Great Meadows NJ. This was Island Dragways Nostalgia Nationals and Car Show. Forty Five racers competed in the race, which was sponsored by C & F Race Cars from Pleasant Valley  NY. Paula Nappi  presented the trophies.

COMP ELIMINATOR

Two time Comp champion Lou Laferrara jr. took his first win in Comp this season. Lou ran a 7.606 on a 7.60 index in his BBC altered to gain the win. He also had a best reaction time of the day with a .004 light in round 2. Here is Lou jr along with Mom, Dad, sister Nicole and a bunch of friends and crew receiving the trophy.

Brian English was Comp runner up in his sharp BBC 1969 Camaro. Brian ran a breakout 8.69 on a 8.70 index in an extremely close final. Here is Brian with Brian Jr, wife Carmela and the Iannacone brothers crew, receiving the trophy.

NOSTALGIA ELIMINATOR

Fred Michel won his first NETO race in his BBC powered T bucket altered.  Fred ran a breakout 10.092 on a 10.10 dial to take the win. Here is Fred with wife Wendy and the pets receiving the trophy.

Nostalgia runner up went to Gerry Ingersoll in his BBf FE motored 1967 Mercury Comet.  Gerry ran a bigger breakout with a 10.535 on a 10.65 dial. Here is Gerry receiving the trophy.
